Approval of Minutes Minutes from the March 23, 2004 UWUCC meeting were approved on a Soule/Diaz-Martin motion with the following changes: Move Sadler from present to excused; correct renumbering of the final three agenda items. Co-Chairs Report Sechrist described the follow up conversation she had with Marcy Rearick regarding the relationship between course number changes and program changes as it applies to maintaining the University Catalog. They agreed that it would not be necessary to submit a complete program revision proposal if the only program changes were related to the course renumberings. Sechrist reported that Staszkiewicz did follow up with Dean Camp and Dr. Szul regarding the Introduction to Business course submitted by the TST Department. Assistant Dean Strittmatter reported on behalf of Dean Camp that it is the intent of the College that this course be taught by the TST Department. The UWUCC was concerned that the content covered more than the TST Department and it might make sense to have the course either be cross-listed or should use a college-wide prefix. The College reported that if the instruction were to expand to other departments, they would submit a new proposal to cross-list the course. Sechrist informed the UWUCC that item 03 30 BS in Education Elementary Education, Urban Track has been revised as requested to be one listing with a footnote describing the two student teaching options. The proposer still used the words Track A and Track B in the footnote and the committee agreed that another word choice such as option would be less confusing to students. The proposer will be asked if that change is acceptable. Jamie Martin meet with the Sociology Department contacts, to share the concerns raised by the UWUCC with regard to their program submissions. Dr. Heckert will be invited to our next meeting to go over the questions weve raised. Sechrist reported she just received revisions to the EDEX proposals as called for in the 3/23/04 meeting of the UWUCC. Sechrist was contacted by the Physics Department regarding the SSHE initiative to work collaboratively with Penn State in the area of Nanotechnology. The department is taking Penn State courses and converting them to Ģtv courses as called for in the System-wide collaborative. Other universities (Clarion, Millersville) have already done so. IV. Honors College Committee Report No Report V. Liberal Studies Committee Report No Report 03 42a AA - Business, Computers and Information Technology Program revision and title change. (Was AA Computers and Office Information Systems) A couple of minor corrections need to be made: BTST 293 should be BTED 293 and BTST 101 now needs to be BTST 105. Liberal Studies Committee also needs to review the proposed revisions to insure that BOG policy is met. Once Liberal Studies acts, UWUCC will act on the revision. VII. 03- 44 Minor in Womens Studies, program revision The need for a few minor corrections were noted: African-American is hyphenated; WMST 430 and SOC 251 need to have the titles corrected. There are some minor corrections needed on the cover sheet. Provisional approval was granted on a Sadler/Hoffsommer motion. 03 41 Minor in Business Administration for non-business majors, program revision. The UWUCC recommended that the implementation section, pt. 3, should be corrected to state that currently enrolled students may choose this option. The word additions is spelled incorrectly. Program revision passed on a Soule/Diaz-Martin motion. 03 43 a, b, and c Math 445, 446, 447 Minor corrections are needed in 43a. p. 2; the term semester hours needs to be corrected to credits; culminating activity needs to be included; 43 c has one (1) too many hours and needs to be corrected; correct format needs to be used in listing the pre-requisites. All three proposals were conditionally approved on a Hoffsommer/Martin motion. 03-47 BIOL 456/ENVH456 Ecological Toxicology, new course Order of class-lab-credit hours in the catalog description has to be switched. Proposal approved on a Hoffsommer/Martin motion. New Business. The UWUCC agreed to hold April 20, the week before the final Senate meeting, for an open invitation to any department representatives considering making course or program changes. Sechrist will notify the departments that they may come in and ask questions and to be provided with assistance early in the peer-review process. As a result of Sechrists and Staszkiewiczs follow up with the College of Business, the UWUCC can now approve the number change for BTST 101 to BTST 105. Course number change was approved on a Hoffsommer/Numan motion. Adjourned at 4:36 PM Respectfully submitted, Mark J.
