Co-Chairs Report Sechrist reported on a meeting on July 22nd between the ECED/SPED program proposers and representatives from the Department of Human Development and Environmental Studies which houses the CDFR program and herself. Although the HDES Department does not support the deletion of their course from the ECED program and they were still upset that they could not have worked together on a track for their students that want to become certified, at the end of the meeting they said that they will not stand in the way of the ECED/SPED program proposal. There is a wording difference between the new catalog description found at the beginning of the syllabus and the new catalog description in the box on page 7-8 under summary of changes. Proposal has many mismatches between the information in the ( ) after the outcomes and what is listed in the matrix. 09-22g ECED 310 Science, Health, and Safety for all PreK to Grade 4 Learners (was previously Science and Health in the Literacy Based Early Childhood Curriculum), course revision, course title change, catalog description change Provisionally approved on a McCombie/Turner motion. Health and Safety are in the new course title, but they are both missing from the outcomes and Safety is missing from the course outline. 09-22k ECSP 112 Growth and Development: Typical and Atypical (was previously EDEX 112 Typical and Atypical Growth and Development), course revision, course prefix change, course title change, catalog description change Provisionally approved on a Numan/Mensch motion. Hannibal abstained. On the catalog description, the first line needs to start "Presents the ..." to match the format of the catalog. There could be some confusion of interpretation on the first line because you have foundations, theories, and findings of research. At the top of the course outcomes the stem sentence uses the old course title. In the matrix on page 2 highlight the key assessment. On page 4 we believe that the correct # of points for the Professional Rubric is 30 not 0. 09-22l ECSP 314 Creative Experiences and Play for all PreK to Grade 4 Learners (was previously ECED 314 Creative Experiences to Enhance Literacy Acquisition), course revision, course prefix change, course title change, catalog description change Provisionally approved on a Lewis/Mensch motion. In the memo we received about why this course was different from the CDFR course it was stated that the CDFR course does not mention families, parents, ELL, or special needs learners. The committee felt that the expectation would be that these items should be appearing in the catalog description and course outcomes, but currently they are not. 09-22n ECSP 440 Professional Seminar: Teacher as Researcher and Advocate for all PreK to Grade 4 Learners new course Returned. The outcomes are not written to be student centered They are also all very low level outcomes for a 400 level course. Where is the research and advocacy in the course title reflected in the outcomes?
