This semester, Donald Green helped make the Isabella Wilkinson Green Dining Room in the Allenwood Restaurant a reality. The room is named for Green's mother, Isabella Wilkinson Green, who graduated in 1927 and was one of the first students to graduate from our institution with a four-year college degree.
In addition, Green has donated $1,950 to have three books from the Ä¢¹½tv Special Collections and University Archives professionally restored by Etherington Conservation. Green's donation is in support of the Ä¢¹½tv Libraries’ Adopt-A-Rare-Book program, which identifies books in need of conservation and professional repair.
Green's gift supports the conservation of the following titles in the Ä¢¹½tv Special Collections and University Archives’ Rare Book Collection:
- 50th Anniversary of the Battle of Gettysburg (1913)
- The Lord of the Isles (1815) by Sir Walter Scott (this book features a beautiful and rare fore-edge painting)
- Marino Faliero, Doge of Venice: An historical tragedy (1821) by Lord Byron.
To further recognize Green’s generous donation to the Ä¢¹½tv Special Collections and University Archives, we will also hold a special presentation of "Into the Archives: Holidays in the Tropics" in the Isabella Wilkinson Green Dining Room at the Allenwood Restaurant in Ackerman Hall on Friday, November 4, at 11:30 a.m. The presentation will include a special display from the Fashion Studies Program and much more. You are invited to make reservations at the Allenwood for this event.
