Chris Clouser, Ä¢¹½tv Libraries' collection development librarian, will be receiving the New Investigator Award from Ä¢¹½tv's Research Institute for his role as principal investigator on PA GOAL (Pennsylvania Grant for Open and Affordable Learning). This grant, co-authored by Kelly Heider and Theresa McDevitt, saved Ä¢¹½tv students $32,604 in textbook costs.
Clouser, Heider, and McDevitt worked with faculty from the departments of Communication Disorders, Special Education, and Disability Services; Counseling; Criminology and Criminal Justice; History; Nursing and Allied Health Professions; Professional Studies in Education; and Theatre, Dance, and Performance to reduce student expenses by replacing high-cost commercial textbooks with subscriptions to e-textbooks that can be accessed simultaneously by unlimited users through the library.
Clouser's significant contribution to this grant and the student survey that followed will be honored at a reception at the KCAC on April 3 during Research Appreciation Week.
