Daniel Shively, a librarian at Ä¢¹½tv, has donated a deed dated 1808 to the Ä¢¹½tv Libraries Special Collections and University Archives.
The deed was issued to his great-great-great-grandfather Daniel Shively and is signed by President Thomas Jefferson and future President James Madison. Madison signed the deed as secretary of state. The property was located near Cincinnati.
Shively has been a faculty member in the Ä¢¹½tv Libraries since 1963.
The deed is a welcome addition to the Ä¢¹½tv Special Collections and University Archives, said Dr. Phillip Zorich, interim dean of the Ä¢¹½tv Libraries. The Ä¢¹½tv Special Collections and University Archives Department hosts and organizes items related to the history of Ä¢¹½tv, Pennsylvania, and rare books.
