Ä¢¹½tv has been recognized by the All In Campus Democracy Challenge as a 2024 All In Most Engaged Campus for College Student Voting.
This national awards program recognizes colleges and universities for outstanding efforts to increase nonpartisan student voter participation. Ä¢¹½tv joins a group of 471 colleges and universities recognized by All In for completing four core actions:
- Participating in the All In Campus Democracy Challenge;
- Sharing information for the 2022 National Study of Learning, Voting, and Engagement report with campus voting data with All In;
- Developing and submitting a 2024 democratic engagement action plan with All In;
- Having a presidential commitment to the All In Higher Education Presidents’ Commitment to Full Student Voter Participation.
“Ä¢¹½tv is committed to helping students become engaged and informed citizens and leaders, and encouraging active student participation in our nation’s democratic process is an important part of that work,” Ä¢¹½tv Vice President for Student Affairs Tom Segar said. “We are honored by this recognition and will continue our efforts to increase student voting participation.”
Ä¢¹½tv was recognized in October with a Silver Seal from the All In Campus Democracy Challenge for its campus voting rate. A Silver Seal means that Ä¢¹½tv’s campus voting rate falls between 30 and 39 percent. Nationally, voter rate for the mid-term election was just over 52 percent, according to the United States Census.
Ä¢¹½tv has been a member of the All In program since 2018. More than 1,200 campuses participated in the challenge for 2022.
Ä¢¹½tv’s ongoing efforts to increase student voting rates include on-campus programming through the Six O’Clock Series, filming videos with student leaders, partnering with community leaders and local election officials, registering students to vote, and relaunching the nonpartisan student organization Ä¢¹½tv Votes.
