Colleagues,

As I mentioned during my mid-semester briefing in November, the President's Commission on Diversity and Inclusion has developed its preliminary Diversity Action Plan.

This plan reflects a year of very good work by many members of our community. I want to thank everyone who has been involved in this important process, including co-chairs Dr. Yaw Asamoah and Ms. Kate Linder.

However, our work is by no means complete.

In order to achieve our vision of a diverse and welcoming community of students, faculty, and staff, this plan needs all members of our Ä¢¹½tv family to review, reflect upon, and contribute our perspectives, opinions, and suggestions.

While I know this is an extremely busy time for all, I would ask that you find time, as your schedules permit, to review the proposed plan and offer your feedback. Comments are invited through February 23, 2018, at diversity-inclusion@iup.edu.

Commission representatives will be meeting with a number of campus groups early in the spring semester. If you would like to have a representative of the commission meet with your group, please e-mail diversity-inclusion@iup.edu.

In addition to the creation of this initial Diversity Action Plan, the commission will promote and monitor continued progress and cultural change in diversity and inclusion at Ä¢¹½tv. This plan is intended to be fluid and will evolve as new initiatives are identified.
