Mimi Benjamin, professor in the Student Affairs in Higher Education program, along with co-authors Claire Hamshire (University of Salford, UK) and Alan Soong Swee Kit (formerly of the University of Singapore), published an international study on peer mentoring in Teaching & Learning Inquiry.
Their article, “” explored the experiences of peer mentors in the UK, USA, and Singapore, resulting in a conceptual model for considering social connections, shared culture/experiences, and interpersonal trust as contributors to a sense of belonging.
This study was the outcome of Benjamin’s participation in the Elon University Center for Engaged Learning Research Seminar on “(Re)Examining Conditions for Meaningful Learning Experiences.”
