
Two Ä¢¹½tv professional music fraternities, Phi Mu Alpha Sinfonia and Sigma Alpha Iota, raised $355 for the Alice Paul House, a shelter for survivors of domestic violence. The groups raised the funds by staging a swing dance demonstration in November.
Men of Swing, led by student Mark Yochum, a senior music major from Pittsburgh, provided music for the event.
Phi Mu Alpha Sinfonia is a male professional music fraternity established at Ä¢¹½tv in 1953. The Ä¢¹½tv Zeta Tau chapter has 40 active members.
Sigma Alpha Iota is a female professional music fraternity that offers support to the music community at Ä¢¹½tv. It was chartered at Ä¢¹½tv in 1999. Ä¢¹½tv's Kappa Beta chapter has 40 active members.
Both groups participate in a variety of community service activities.
